Marketing has positioned them in a spot, where you might be asked what is wrong with you, if you say, that these solutions are not 'perfect'. I see a huge influence of marketing on these two brands. But I'm not sure, that really all users are so happy as it looks like. It will be difficult to find some, who would say they are not happy with their choice. Out in the wild you will find many Fortinet and PaloAlto users, both believing they are using the best product available. ![]() Go trough different scenarios and find out what product does the best job for - my opinion may be a bit biased, as I'm a convinced 'WatchGuard fan'. But don't just look at the user interface. Evaluating the solution on your own is the best way for that. You need to find your own favorite vendor for your network. I guess you wouldn't want to go for one vendor, just because some people claim, that he is the best one out there. The problem with firewalls is, that everyone has different requirements, habits and criteria - that in most cases doesn't mach yours. I guess, you should contact some reseller and ask them for a test appliance, so you can check one and the other, how they fit into your network and management approach. So I guess, you have done your homework, evaluated them and finished up with these two candidates.īut as these two candidates are pretty much different from a management approach, I really wonder, how you can't decide for one or the other. Out there are many more candidates, that may be of the right 'size' for your network. How did you narrow down your selection to PA and FG?
